This is a superb collection of songs that should appeal to the New York mambo crowd. The song which most people will be familiar with is ‘Merecumbe’, which rumbles away here magnificently. Other songs which I have played from this cd and which have worked on the dancefloor are ‘Echala Pa Ca’, which rolls along very nicely in a retro fashion, ‘Entre Compay y Comay’, with a wonderful piano solo which the rest of the band give plenty space to, and ‘Dejame En Paz’, which manages to be both mournful and uplifting at the same time. If you dig old school NY trumpet and trombone, this cd is for you.

デビューアルバムから約7年、ついに待望の２枚目登場。待った甲斐あって前作以上の出来だ。タイトル曲③はPete Paganの素晴しいボーカルとグルーブ感でフロアの定番になる予感。Willie Rodriguez のジャジーなベースも効いている。④⑤⑥も花丸。収録曲リストに⑧El Cuarto De Tulaを見つけた時は正直「散々カバーされているこの曲をなぜ？」と思ったが、いや素晴らしい。名バージョン誕生に拍手。

Dave Santiago & Latin Affair have kept us waiting a long time for this, their second cd. It is around 7 years since they released their first cd. But the wait is definitely worth it, as this cd is even better than their first. I predict that the title track, ‘Rumbeando En El Solar’, will become a dancefloor favorite, with its relaxed groove and terrific vocals by Pete Pagan. The song also has nice jazzy bass lines from Willie Rodriguez. Other highlights of this great cd include the sunny, tres and flute-led ‘La Rojita’, the laidback ‘La Sazon’, and the chunky, cheerful ‘Mi Guaracha’. When I saw ‘El Cuarto De Tula’ listed on the CD sleeve, my first thought was, “do we really need another cover of this song?” But when you hear the band’s wonderful version of the song, you will be glad that they did include it.

Johnny Ray and his band are one of the slickest outfits on the salsa scene and this cd is typically smooth and polished. The first song, ‘El De La Rumba Soy Yo’, gets things off to a flying start, an upbeat dancefloor friendly track that is followed by other good songs such as ‘Llegaste Tarde’, ‘El Malquerido’, and what is probably the highlight of this set, the swinging midtempo ‘Reconciliacion’. The caliber of the musicians and singers involved in this cd is top notch and includes Sammy Gonzalez Jr., Isidro Infante, Ruben Rodriguez, Luisito Quintero, and Tito Allen, amongst others. This certainly is ‘salsa con clase’.

レッスンはニューヨーク・サルサの第一人者エディー･トレスの直弟子、バヤ！サトーさんによる「パチャンガ」の入門レッスンです。ここ数年世界中で 大ブレイクしているパチャンガ。On1・On2どちらでも簡単にシャインに組み込める縦ノリリズムのパチャンガは、コツがつかめれば単純なステップでも かっこよく踊れます。パチャンガの代名詞とも言うべきエディー･トレス直伝のステップを、この無料レッスンでマスターしましょう!

1996年にサルサと出会い、サルサＤＪとして活動開始。
以来、ＤＪが本職だった時期も含めレギュラーに活躍。グラスゴー、エディンバラの人気サルサクラブやイベントでスピンしスコットランドサルサの顔となる。また英国全国からダンサーが集まるBrean Sands Salsa WeekenderでもDJをつとめた。
2008年東京に拠点を移す。

Vaya!Sato （バヤ！サトー）：
Vaya!Sato（バヤ！サトー）／GoSato（ゴーサトー）は、本場NYで“Mambo King” エディー＆マリア・トレスの下3年間、NY ON２サルサを学ぶ、伝統的ON２サルサ／マンボの継承者。07年3月NY Salsa Festivalで日本ON２サルサ先駆者・森若菜のパートナーとしてパフォーマー・デビュー。6月には現在NYで活躍中のユキと共に“Yuki & Vaya!Sato: A.K.A. ☆Japoricans☆”でコレオグラファーとしてもデビュー。07年7月に日本へ帰国、9月1日に日本でソロ・デビュー、09年3月にはNYでも凱旋 ソロ・デビューを果たし、本場でも高い評価を得る。日本では珍しい、ON２サルサの男性ソロ・パフォーマー。

９８年ロンドン留学中にサルサを始める。帰国後、第二回日本サルサペアコンペティション入賞。ダイナミック且つスピード感のあるダンステクニック、新しい感性での表現力に定評がある。
アジアを始め海外でもパフォーマンス、ワークショップを依頼され、『China Salsa Congress』ではコンペティションの審査委員も務める。ロサンゼルスで行われるアメリカ大会『LAC』では毎年ハイライトで出演。また自身が振付 け, 監督しているサルサチームを、アメリカのサルサ世界選手権『WSC』日本代表チームに選出させるなど、指導力も高く評価される。

Keith from Scotland, UK, started learning salsa dancing in 1996 and soon started DJing too. Since then he’s been DJing salsa nights regularly. In Scotland, he DJed at popular salsa clubs and events in Glasgow and Edinburgh and was one of the main forces behind the Scottish salsa scene. His wide ranging sets encompassing classic to cutting-edeg salsa from around the world, from NY and Puerto Rico to Colombia, Cuba, Africa and Europe, also proved popular at Pontins Brean Sands Salsa Weekender in the UK as well as clubs in Shanghai, Kyoto and Tokyo.
He moved to Tokyo in 2008 and has been DJing at Club Pepito, Tokyo Latin Night, Las Risas and other clubs and events.

Vaya! Sato (Go Sato):
Vaya!Sato trained in New York under Eddie Torres the Mambo King and Maria Torres for three years, debuting as a performer and choreographer in 2007. Since his return to Japan in July 2007, he has been performing solo in cities around Japan as well as in NY.

Hiro & Taku:

Hiro & Taku started dancing in 1998 while studying in London. On their return to Japan, they won the second Japan national salsa competition. They have been performing, teaching and judging at salsa events throughout Asia and abroad and have been a regular fixture at the LA Salsa Congress evening shows. They are also highly acclaimed instructors, leading their dance teams to the World Salsa Championship. Much sought after by the media, they recently appeared in a prime-time NHK TV show demonstrating their skills as dancers and choreographers.

DJラファエルとDJキースDのコラボプロジェクト「Salsa International」第2弾は、6月26日(金)のスタジオソーシャルです！今度の会場は六本木のスタジオペペ2。

レッスンには、今年のLAコングレスでもパフォーマンスにワークショップにと活躍したMitsue先生をお招きしました。LAコングレスのワークショップと同じく「体で作る音の作り方」というテーマで、音楽にあわせたボディムーブメントのレッスンを行います。足はOn1でもOn2でもOK！音と一体となって踊るMitsueマジックを体験するチャンス。奮ってご参加ください。

レッスンの後はＤＪキースとDJラファエルによるフリーダンスタイム。
スタイルも時代も多彩な幅広い選曲で、On1・On2関係なく、初心者から上級者まで踊れるパーティです。

サルサを聴いて育ち、オーストラリアでサルサＤＪとして活躍。
本拠メルボルンでのレギュラースピンに加え、シドニー“Australian Salsa Classic”コンペティションやニュージーランドコングレスでもＤＪをつとめ、”El Señor de la Salsa”のニックネームを得た。
2008年東京に拠点を移す。

DJキースＤ（Keith D）：

英国スコットランド出身。
1996年にサルサと出会い、サルサＤＪとして活動開始。
以来、ＤＪが本職だった時期も含めレギュラーに活躍。グラスゴー、エディンバラの人気サルサクラブやイベントでスピンしスコットランドサルサの顔となる。また英国全国からダンサーが集まるBrean Sands Salsa WeekenderでもDJをつとめた。
2008年東京に拠点を移す。

１６歳でソシアルダンスを始め､その年にプロとしてデビュー､競技ではトップクラス(Ａ級)に入賞し全日本選手権大会では幾度とセミファイルに入る。サルサでは世界最大のコングレスに毎年出場し､2006コングレスにて表彰される。キューバン・ON1・ON2と多彩なスタイルを踊りこなすMitsueはどのスタイルの人からも人気がある。
